St. Hetty's Day
As Sam and Jay try to clean up from the parachuting stripper crashing into Jay’s restaurant, Jay’s cousin visits the bed and breakfast. He becomes enamored with Hetty whose special ghost power is finally revealed.

New Ghost on Property
As the coroner again retrieves a body from Woodstone Manor, the ghost of the Australian stripper who loves dinosaurs is now on the property. Isaac has had a crush on this man since he performed at Isaac’s bachelor party, dancing for an empty chair that actually had Isaac in it, and clicking like a dinosaur. Isaac struggles to say his own name to the new ghost, making him think Captain Higgentoot’s name is Ice. Still the other ghosts welcome their newest ghost and give him the lay of the land, while Sam and Jay prepare for living company.

Jay’s cousin, whose girlfriend just broke up with him, visits. He’s clearly down in the dumps and is struggling with his current situation in life. After a brief conversation, Jay walks out of the room. Meanwhile, Jay’s cousin meets someone who he thinks is another guest at the inn but doesn’t realize she’s so much more.
St. Hetty’s Day
It’s St. Patrick’s Day in the episode, and Hetty, who formerly hated the Irish but has come to accept her own ancestry is visible to Jay’s cousin. They hit it off and share a walk around the grounds. The ghosts try to determine how valuable this power is for Hetty based on the ghost power tier system. Meanwhile, Jay’s cousin can’t wait to tell Sam and Jay about hitting it off with the other guest. Sam and Jay are confused until Hetty walks into the kitchen and Jay can see her too.

Jay’s cousin invites Hetty to lunch meanwhile, Sam and Jay recap everything with Hetty able to relay things to Jay that Sam has left out over time. They try to find the right balance because Hetty blowing off Jay’s cousin could be devastating but Jay’s cousin is also vulnerable and could overreact to the lunch. This is exactly what happens when he talks about a potential future date. He tries to kiss Hetty who gets up and walks right through the door, before sticking her head back through. Hetty may be visible, but she can’t move corporeal objects like Trevor can, so she’s sending Jay’s cousin for a loop. Eventually, the day comes to an end, and it looks like Hetty is there to stay only for them to realize the clock is slow and Hetty becomes invisible to the living again, except Sam.
Love Triangle
Meanwhile, despite the fact that Isaac is the one who has been crushing on this new stripper ghost from the time he was alive, Nigel, Isaac’s ex-fiancé is the one to hit it off in the afterlife. They spend time talking about dinosaurs, which is ironic given the fact that Nigel didn’t care about dinosaurs but only learned about them because Isaac was interested in them. The dinosaur bond leads to a romantic entanglement.

However, something else happens. The new ghost learns his ghost power rather quickly and learns, much like Pete, he can leave the property. However, this ghost has to be parachuting in the air. He decides to go see the world this way. Nigel asks about him and Isaac tells Nigel the new ghost has been “sucked off” due to the happiness of his time with Nigel. It makes Nigel feel better, shows Isaac to be improving as a ghost and sets up a potential awkward reunion if the writers ever try to revisit it, especially with Nigel saying Sam should perform a seance to bring him back at a later date.
Rating
Ghosts delivers with another genuinely laugh out loud episode. Hetty’s power is interesting but is likely a tier two power. It’s intriguing but can cause as much harm as good. She’s on par with Thorfinn and Flower (and Alberta too despite Pete trying to label Alberta a tier three). Her being visible to the living brought some of the best humor in the series, but it’s one that can only be revisited on rare occasions. It’s not as intriguing of a power as Pete, Sas and Trevor; it’s still better than Isaac and the cholera ghosts though.
Plus, this episode helped improve the relationship between Isaac and Nigel while introducing the character who once came between them as someone who helps them be friendlier. It’s good storytelling.
