McAllister Auto Loves the Ladies

Georgie doesn’t understand why women don’t like coming to the tire shop and looks to expand the customer base. He turns to Audrey to help give the shop a feminine touch which leads to issues between Jim and Audrey and Jim and Georgie.

Tire Shop

Georgie starts wondering why so many places seem to be only for men because women don’t want to go there. This is heightened when customers tell him their wives don’t like coming to the tire shop. Georgie tries to encourage the men to convince their wives to come in. He tells Jim about some changes they can make but this doesn’t go well when they try to tell Audrey and Mandy at home.

Both Audrey and Mandy insist a woman should be involved in making the shop more feminine. Jim insists he can’t afford another employee but since Audrey is technically the co-owner of the business. Georgie asks her to come in and give her expertise. Jim is clearly uncomfortable as he doesn’t like change, but he doesn’t want to tell his wife he doesn’t want her at work. The setup makes it clear that this is going to cause problems at the tire shop.

A Feminine Touch

Audrey stops by the tire shop and notices a lot of issues that would push women away. She enlists Georgie and Ruben to do her work that includes sprucing up the inside and painting the outside of the building. Georgie seems to be in lockstep with Audrey on every decision which leads to issues with Jim. He doesn’t want change and finds it odd that his wife and son-in-law are in such agreement. He talks it over with Mandy who agrees it’s weird.

Eventually, Jim decides to have a talk with Georgie. He picks up that Georgie doesn’t really like all the changes but wants his mother-in-law to like him. Jim reminds Georgie that he fought for him when Audrey wouldn’t give him a chance. Eventually, they return home where Jim and Audrey have a fight and Georgie admits he just wanted to get along with his mother-in-law.

Marriage Advice

Georgie feels bad about his actions contributing to Jim and Audrey fighting. Mandy lets him know that it is his fault they are fighting but not to try to get involved anymore. She requests a foot rub which Georgie obliges but the fighting is still bothering him. He goes to Jim and Audrey’s room and asks to speak to them.

Georgie apologizes for his actions, but Jim and Audrey both let him know that everything is fine and they had already made up. Jim gives some good advice when he says “You fight and then you make up! That’s marriage!” Jim is right and his long marriage to Audrey has made it clear he knows how to weather the storm when bumps in the road pop up. Unfortunately, the series name makes it clear that Georgie and Mandy won’t always make it work.

The next day, Audrey steps by the shop where she tells Jim she won’t be around because she misses spending time with Cici and Jim needs his own place. Jim wishes her well and then immediately has Georgie and Ruben start removing every change she made. However, they keep the softer toilet seat she had Georgie buy for the bathroom with Jim calling it a “keeper.”

Weird Connor

While most of the episode takes place at the tire shop, Connor spends the majority of the episode recording sounds around the house. It’s an unusual but innocuous hobby that turns into him trying to create music. He takes sounds from many appliances around the house and even uses Cici’s cries to create the song. Mandy takes the time to listen to it and reaffirms to him that it’s cool.

This is a nice moment for Mandy and Connor. He’s been presented as the weird brother, ostensibly a stand-in for Sheldon, on this series. While he’s got his quirks, he’s got moments where he shines. That’s where this falls apart. His best “weird” moments are when they grow his character and add to the show. This makes him seem weird for the sake of being weird, although it does give him one moment of bonding with his sister, it’s just not enough payoff for whatever they were attempting here.

Rating

This series continues to be completely uneven. Some weeks expand the story and make it palatable. Other weeks feel like filler. Every episode is cheesy, but sometimes cheesy can work and other times cheesy fails. This is failing filler cheese. It undersells everything and focuses far more on Jim and Audrey than it does Georgie and Mandy. Overall, this episode is a dud.
