Ghost Pointe Blank

Simon, Xavier, Nicole and Claire take Janet away to try to sway her to give Maddie’s body back. Maddie searches for proof Dawn crossed over. And the spirits tackle their past and their afterlife.

Janet’s Abduction

At the end of episode five, Janet was taken while she was throwing away Simon’s phone and the book Mr. Anderson/Martin gave her through her mother. Episode six reveals it was Simon, Nicole, Xavier and Claire who took her. They are trying to get her to willingly go back to the school, but Janet doesn’t want to give up Maddie’s body. She finally has the future that she was denied both by her death and for being a teenage girl in the 1950s.

The four friends work on a plan to try to convince her to give up the body. This includes Xavier and Nicole watching over Janet while Simon and Claire head back into town. Simon tells Maddie to try to find proof that Dawn crossed over since Janet doesn’t believe someone who did so little in the afterlife crossed over when Janet’s constant search for a way to crossover revealed nothing. Meanwhile, Simon and Claire also spot Mr. Martin after Maddie reveals he jumped into Mr. Anderson’s body.

Spiritual Search

The spirits at the school split up for their different tacklings of the afterlife. Maddie continues using the red zones to try to figure out a way to escape. She enters Mr. Martin’s but ends up exiting Rhonda’s letting her know they work as a portal. Meanwhile, Rhonda and Quinn look for proof that Dawn crossed over. While they don’t find it, they find the drawing in the notebook Mr. Martin kept on Wally. While it looks like a football play, they figure out it’s a way to move through the red zones helping Maddie with her escape plans.

While this is going on, the class of 1984 gathered at the school for its 40 years reunion. Wally attends the reunion along with Charlie and Yuri. When they honor Wally, a gay classmate explains he doesn’t mourn Wally, because Wally and his football friends picked on him in school, and that was well before he was out. Charlie takes it hard hearing one of his closest friends in the afterlife wouldn’t have been a good friend in school. Meanwhile, Wall Charlie struggles with his feelings for Yuri as they try to dance. Eventually, all three go their own separate ways. Wally apologizes to Charlie for the type of person he was in high school but explains in the afterlife he would be right there fighting anyone who tried to do to Charlie what he once did. Meanwhile, Charlie goes to the pottery room to finally have his dance with Yuri.

Mr. Anderson

While this is going on, Sandra continues her friendship with the man she believes is Mr. Anderson. She tells him that Maddie is no longer at home and she wonders if she should go to the police. Of course, this is Mr. Martin in Mr. Anderson’s body and he doesn’t want cops around to stop him. He goes to the place he knows that Janet was squatting while she was on the run and where Xavier was run over. Claire and Simon spot him, and since they know it’s not Mr. Anderson, they call the police to detain him.

Mr. Martin goes through the questioning where an alibi is provided for the attack on Xavier since Mr. Anderson was attending an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at the time Xavier was run over. Eventually, Mr. Martin figures out where the friends have taken Janet. He’s making his way up there when Claire, who is now getting beer with Nicole’s brother after he dropped in unannounced because Nicole hadn’t been home in a few days, spots him and slashes his tire. Claire now has to explain why she did that to Nicole’s brother. But Mr. Martin won’t be deterred. After Simon finally gets through to Janet about returning to the school, she asks for some time alone, but Mr. Martin arrives where she’s standing on a lake as the episode ends.

Rating

What will happen now that Mr. Martin has caught up to Janet and Maddie has figured out how to move through the red zones and found an exit? This series has figured out how to ratchet up the suspense as everyone tries to figure out how to rescue Maddie. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that Sandra will become the biggest victim in all this. She was a drunkard who lost her daughter. She cleaned up her life for her daughter’s memory and then thought she had her daughter back. Her daughter’s gone again, and she starts drinking again, with the episode ending with her back at the bar. I’m not sure if her psyche can handle more. Still, the series is nailing every beat along the way.
