WORKING FOR THE ENEMY
Georgie and Jim have a blowup over Korean tires that leads to Georgie leaving McAllister’s Auto and working for the enemy. Meanwhile, more of Audrey’s wild past is revealed that aligns with her previous fun with beer.

Georgie v. Jim
The episode opens with Georgie and Jim arguing over selling the Korean tires at the shop. Jim wants to stay loyal to the tiremakers with which he’s already partnered. Georgie, on the other hand, sees an opportunity to expand the product base. Jim, as the boss, puts his foot down. However, Georgie doesn’t listen and gets some of the Korean tires on consignment.

What was a simple disagreement turns into a full blown fight as Jim and Georgie argue in Jim’s office. Jim is now upset that Georgie went behind his back. Georgie tries to explain they won’t be charged anything since he got them on consignment, but Jim feels hurt and betrayed. Eventually, Jim shows Georgie the door and Georgie walks right through it leading to a further blow up about whether Jim fired Georgie or if Georgie quit.
Georgie’s New Job
After dinner where Jim and Georgie refuse to speak with each other, both Audrey and Mandy try to provide cooler heads for the family. Georgie needs a job to make money but feels like Jim doesn’t respect him. Of course, he has no money, so Georgie has to live under Jim’s roof. Meanwhile, Jim still wants things his way, and much like in an earlier episode where Jim was noncommittal to Audrey’s argument because he knew she was wrong, Audrey is now noncommittal to Jim’s argument.

Meanwhile, Georgie goes to see Fred Fagenbacher, Jim’s tire rival and Audrey’s ex-boyfriend. Fred makes it clear he’s hiring Georgie to spite Jim. Georgie is okay with this because he needs the job. Meanwhile, Mandy and Audrey hatch a plan, using Audrey’s past with Fred, to get Georgie fired and then have Jim rehire him.
Georgie’s Loyalty to Family
After seeing Audrey at his new workplace, Georgie talks to his boss who has some less than pleasant things to say about his mother-in-law. Despite the fact she’s been less than pleasant to Georgie, he still quits his new job because she’s family and he’s loyal. Mandy is upset but appreciates his loyalty. She tries to use this as a reason for him to try to get his job back with his father, but Georgie explains family is a two-way street. When she says both Georgie and Jim are being idiots, he tells her not to talk about her father that way.

Eventually, after Jim has a long night at the shop because he was selling out of the tires that Georgie got on consignment, the two agree to talk it out. Georgie apologizes for going behind Jim’s back and Jim admits that Georgie was right about the tires. (In The Big Bang Theory, Georgie is known as Dr. Tire in later life and sell more tires than anyone in Texas, so Jim would be wise to listen to his son-in-law.) Eventually, Georgie returns to work for Jim and Jim has to deal with his frustrations with Audrey’s ex in other ways.
Rating
This was a solid entry into the first season of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. Mandy’s brother, Connor, delivered some one liners in this episode that helped bring levity to some of the more serious moments, while Montana Jordan continues to nail the Georgie humor to a “T.” It’s finally hitting a stride that makes the series deliver. It’s still not as good as The Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon, but it’s finally showing it’s a worthy lead-in to Ghosts.

I watched this show and your story is an excellent recap. I liked the show and will continue watching every Thursday, but must say Ghosts is my favorite Thursday night show.
