Investigating the Professor

Gen. Flag feels something is off about Circe and the vision she gave to Amanda Waller. He’s fearful they will kill Princess Ilana on bad intel. He takes his new partner, Victor Frankenstein, to the school where the professor works and finds her acting very unprofessional in class. Afterward, they head to her house where they find her body confirming the actual professor and Themyscira expert is dead and the one who confirmed the version is a fraud.

When the person impersonating the professor arrives, she transforms into the Batman villain, Clayface. Flag and Frankenstein work together to try to take down Clayface, but the shape-shifting villain gets the advantage on Flag and seriously injures him. However, Frankenstein defeats Clayface using electricity. Flag tells Eric to tell the Bride the truth about the vision Circe showed Waller to try to stop them from killing Princess Ilana.

Task Force M Compromised

Princess Ilana and her military welcome Task Force M back to Pokolistan where Alexei notes how they never had threats against their leader until they opened up communication with the United States. However, while this has been going on, Gen. Flag manages to get through to Princess Ilana that the team isn’t there to protect her. Alexeii takes Task Force M away from the castle and then reveals he knows what’s going on and is ready to stop them.

Dr. Phosphorus puts his fist through the car seat and Alexeii’s head, killing him. The team knows they have been compromised and are on the run fighting Pokolistan’s military. Task Force M scatters with each team proving why they were chosen for this team with how they are able to defeat multiple enemy combatants at once. The easy best of this is when Phosphorus stands in the road with two middle fingers outstretched and lets a tank hit him as he cuts through it and the soldiers’ bodies with his own body. As the team scatters, Princess Ilana puts out an order to kill all of them.

Frankenstein Healed

The backstory for this episode focuses on Eric Frankenstein in the aftermath of killing Victor and fighting The Bride. He is burned and ends up floating down a river until he’s rescued by a gypsy woman. She nurses him back to health and tries to convince him The Bride doesn’t love him. She had been alone for a long time and doesn’t want to be alone anymore. However, Eric promises her he could never leave her alone.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t bode well for the woman who saved his life. Eric smashes her to death and then walks outside whistling for her dog to join him. The dog doesn’t know his caretaker is dead but happily follows Eric to the next location.

Rating

Much like the previous episodes, this follows the same formula of present events being intercut with a backstory for one of the characters. Some backstories, like G.I. Robot and Weasel, are interesting. Some, like The Bride, are not. Eric Frankenstein’s recovery from that initial fight with The Bride is interesting as it paints him as even more of a cold-blooded killer than when he murdered Victor. At least with Victor, he could argue betrayal, but this woman cared for him and tried to help him beyond the physical and he still killed her. He’s a monster, plain and simple.

As for actual Task Force M, most of their story was rather uninteresting until the action scenes. Their fighting was epic, the rest of their story was not. Hopefully, their stories will be more interesting while they are on the run in Pokolistan.
