Aftermath of Lilia’s Sacrifice
In the moments after Lilia sacrifices herself to take out the Salem Seven, Jen tries to get back through the door to save her. The remaining trio accept Lilia’s choice and continue down the road reaching the beginning where they took off their shoes. After an argument about the next trial, Billy puts on his shoes and the next trial begins as the trio are trapped in bags in Agatha’s basement.

During the struggle, it’s revealed that Agatha is the witch who bound Jen years earlier causing Jen to lose her powers. Now that Jen regained her powers during the first trial, she does an unbinding spell to free herself. This results in her disappearing from the basement. Meanwhile, Agatha shows Billy an image of a young boy being drowned. Billy takes this to mean that this boy must die so that his brother, Tommy, can have a body. The fear of causing another’s death leads Billy to pull away and he too vanishes from the basement.
Rio is Death
The episode actually starts in the aftermath of episode five. Alice appears to wake up only to find Rio ready to guide her to the afterlife. She realizes Rio is Death and she died mere minutes after regaining her powers and breaking the curse on her family. It puts a bow on Alice’s story while preparing viewers for what’s to come with Rio.

Later, while Billy and Jen are still coping with Lilia’s sacrifice, Agatha and Rio discuss what comes next. Rio says she knows who Billy is now and either he or Agatha must go. Agatha convinces Rio to let her persuade Billy to surrender rather than a killing. This decision leads to the illusion of the drowning boy. Agatha thinks she’s completed her promise, but Rio has other plans.
Rio vs. Agatha
Agatha claws her way from the ground, but Rio is in her backyard waiting for her. Rio says Billy’s disappearance didn’t lead him to Death, and the long-awaited fight between Rio and Agatha begins. In the first episode, it was hinted that Rio was going to wait until Agatha had her powers again, and Rio believes Agatha has enough power to have this fight.
Advice from Lilia comes in handy. During one of her out of time moments, Lilia told Agatha to “hit the deck” when Rio calls her a coward. Rio does and then Agatha drops as the kitchen sink comes flying out of the house. Agatha manages to avoid the hit, but Rio gets the advantage, and it appears Agatha is defeated until some unexpected help arrives.

Wiccan
Billy shoots magic at Rio to give Agatha time. He arrives wearing his full Wiccan superhero costume from the comics. He supplies Agatha with power for her fight with Rio and she stops draining his powers before it’s too late allowing him to live. Agatha and Rio have the traditional end of Marvel battle, but rather than one truly winning, Rio’s revelation that either Agatha or Billy has to die to meet the requirement leads Billy to offer himself as sacrifice.
Agatha, who has been truly evil for centuries, plans to leave Billy to Rio until Billy asks what really happened to her son. Agatha then kisses Rio before giving up her own life and making the first heroic decision of her life. Agatha dies and Billy is free to go.
The Witches’ Road’s Secret
Billy leaves Westview and returns to his home where his parents fawn over him as he’s been gone for “24 hours” by their time. They are concerned parents who are just happy to have him home, but they have a lot of questions as he’s bruised and scarred from the fights along the Witches’ Road. But when he gets to his room, Billy notices something strange.

Billy starts looking around his room and notices many of his trinkets and doodads match things he saw along the Witches’ Road. He comes to the realization that the Witches’ Road isn’t real, and he created it with his magic. Then, we hear Agatha’s voice as the series prepares for its finale.
Rating
Much of this episode felt like a traditional Marvel finale, which was a strong episode while being incredibly odd, since it was clear there was one more episode to go in the series. Billy finally wore the full Wiccan costume. Rio managed to collect four bodies along the Witches’ Road. And Agatha had a redemption moment. She’s not fully redeemed. She was still an evil witch for centuries and her decision to give up her life for Billy doesn’t erase all that. Still, it sets up a very interesting premise for the finale.
